When James Carville said, “It’s the economy, stupid” during the 1992 Presidential campaign, it was out of frustration with his own campaign workers forgetting what the campaign was all about. When Paul wrote to the believers in Rome, he could have just as easily said, “It’s the gospel, stupid.” We are too quick to forget that our purpose is to proclaim the gospel message that Jesus has rescued us on the cross. In this kickoff message for The Romans Road Trip, Paul encourages us to get back to our calling as gospel proclaimers.
